At the end of the year 2008, we realized a need for a Food Pantry that was open every week and was not restrictive in any way. The congregation decided to open a pantry to help feed those in need with no regulations or paperwork.
The beginning of January started our mission and it has been growing ever since. Besides food for families, at the suggestion of one of our youth, we decided to provide food for dogs and cats too. We heard stories of people being forced to give up their pets because they couldn't afford to feed them.
To date, the vast majority of the food provided for the pantry has come from our congregation and friends of the church. We need business sponsors also in order to keep going. Klim's Orchard in Lake Ariel has been a wonderful sponsor, providing apples each week for our patrons.
Other contributors include:
Country Trails General Store, Lake Ariel
Aurels TV and Appliances, Hamlin
Lady Jane’s, Hamlin
Dad’s Dogfood
Boy Scout Troop 102, Lake Ariel
Skinner Systems, Throop
The Medicine Shoppe, Moscow
U S Postal Svc., Lake Ariel
Dollar Delite, Moscow
The pantry is open every Tuesday from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM. People are also welcome during our worship service on Sunday's from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Emergency requests are handled as needed by calling Pastor Art Yetter at (570) 282-2157.
