Outreach and Fund Raisers
One of the true purposes of a church is to reach out into the surrounding community, welcoming and encouraging people to have a relationship with God.  Sometimes this is done through fund raising events that serve the dual purpose of reaching out and providing some additional funds so that the church can do more outreach.  Besides our dinners and subs, the following special events help us reach the community as well.

Annual Rummage Sale
Every year during the month of June, we have a wonderful rummage sale.  There are many, many items sold for next to nothing.  Baby clothes for $.50, adult clothes for $1 and lots of other items.  It is held on a Friday and Saturday and brings a large crowd of people.  Many who are needy and looking for a few bargains.  It has been a great way to reach out in the community and provide help to those who need it and fun for all.
Traditionally, towards the end of the last day of the sale, we offer the chance for people to fill a large bag with anything they want for $1.  Left over items are donated to the Salvation Army.
Bike Run for Fun
Last year we did our second annual - Bike Run for Fun  - This year's event will be on June 7th. . .a motorcycle run through the area.
The run ends at the Masonic picnic grounds where there is plenty of good food and fellowship.  There will be many prizes.  Every one who signs up receives a T-shirt with the run date and sponsors listed on it.
We expect a big turnout and look forward to reaching out to these wonderful group of bikers.  We had bikers of all ages and backgrounds.
  It was great!

Annual Spaghetti Dinner
All the Spaghetti you can eat.  Last year, we charged $1 for spaghetti, bread, meatballs, salad and desserts.  This year the dinner was held for a donation of "any amount".  All the proceeds were used to help replenish our new Food Pantry project.
Nursing Home Ministry
The second Sunday of each month, we have a group that offers a varied worship service at St. Mary's Villa Nursing Home in Elmhurst, PA.  Services start at 2:00 PM.
Food Pantry
This past January saw the beginning of the "Cortez Country Cupboard" and "Critter Closet".  This is a food pantry for people and pets.  Items have been donated by our congregation and friends along with a few businesses to help feed those in need.  Open every Tuesday from 1:00 to 2:30 PM.
